NPH Staff
NPH Staff's broad and diverse skills help elevate the collective voice of NPH members, where and when it counts. While NPH has grown in the last 28 years into a strong association, we remain different from other trade associations because of our roots and because, at the heart of the group, we are dedicated people working together to build better communities. We hope we have remained true to our mission, and we will continue assisting our members to provide safe, quality affordable housing. We thank our volunteers, NPH Board of Directors, and members for their guiding inspiration.

Dianne Spaulding, Executive Director
Since 1992, Dianne has provided leadership for NPH at the local, regional and state levels. Under her leadership, NPH has established a national reputation for housing advocacy efforts that have led to historic legislation and funding; distinguished itself by creating the Fellowship Program for People of Color in Non-Profit Housing; and designed award-winning communications tools to build community acceptance of affordable housing. Ms. Spaulding is frequently called upon to provide leadership and insight on housing policy, funding opportunities for affordable housing, and local action strategies, such as the housing element process and advocacy coalitions that spur citizen action. Ms. Spaulding currently serves as the regional affiliate representative for the National Housing Conference, the chairperson for the California Housing Consortium, and previously served on the Board of Housing California for 10 years, five of those as its President. Her success in affordable housing is indicative of her over 25-year commitment to non-profit community-based organizations. She is a graduate of the University of California, and holds a degree in political science and psychology.

Diana Williams, Communications Director
Diana joined NPH in February 2007 to oversee publication of NPH’s newsletter and reports, handle press queries and to help create a new communications strategy for framing important debates and policies within the affordable housing sector. A journalist by training, Diana comes to NPH with a background in both communications and land use issues. From 2003 to 2005, Diana served as executive director of Urban Ecology, which provides pro-bono architectural and land use planning services to low-income neighborhoods in the Bay Area. Under her leadership, Urban Ecology helped East Oakland residents secure $1 million to improve waterfront access near Jack London Square. From 2000 to 2003, Diana worked at the James Irvine Foundation, where she helped create new land use and transportation grant making goals and administer $5 million in annual grants to non profits in the field. Diana worked as reporter in Maryland and for several Bay Area newspapers, including the Oakland Tribune, from 1987 to 1998. Among other beats, she covered Oakland City Hall and the California statehouse, in Sacramento. Diana holds a degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and an undergraduate degree in history from Hamilton College.

Ann Gressani, Communications Associate
Ann Gressani has joined NPH on an interim basis to help with communications and other public education efforts.   Ann has a varied background in public policy advocacy in California.  She worked as committee consultant to the California Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee, coming up through the ranks to become in 1983 the first woman and youngest person ever in the top job on a Senate Committee.   Later she worked managing government relations, strategic policy initiatives and media for MCI and Garrett Corporation Electric Power Systems.  She understands the challenges developers face through her work to win local government approvals to build alternative energy facilities.    She lives in Oakland with her family and loves the beach and the New York Times.

Peggy Lee, Development Director
Peggy joined NPH on January 29, 2007 as the Resource Development Associate, and she will be responsible for the development and submission of foundation grants, ensuring grant reports are accurate and timely, as well as participating in other revenue and resource development work.  Peggy comes to NPH from the Chinatown Community Development Center, an organizational member of NPH.  In her six years at the Chinatown CDC, first as Executive Assistant, then as Grants Associate, Peggy gained extensive working knowledge of the land use and affordable housing history of San Francisco, community organizing strategies, and sound fiscal and board policies.  She hopes to bring this knowledge to NPH as well as the community organizations she volunteers for; she is a current board officer of CELLspace, a non-profit community-serving arts collective in the Mission neighborhood, and was recently elected to the board of the Coalition On Homelessness.  Her volunteer work reflects her belief of the importance of non-profits that not only serve the community, but engages its members and empowers them to be a force for change.

Amie Haiz, Chief Operating Officer
Since 2001, Amie has overseen NPH’s operations and financial management. In her role as Chief Operating Officer, Amie is responsible for managing the internal functions of NPH to ensure the fulfillment of its organizational mission.  Amie ensures that NPH is appropriately staffed, managed and governed to fulfill its mission and serve the community.  While at NPH, Amie has overseen the financial management of the Community Acceptance Strategies Consortium project, Prop 1C campaign and the Inclusionary Housing Initiative.   Originally, Amie joined NPH as a contract bookkeeper, bringing extensive experience in non-profit accounting and management with her.  She has worked with many NPH statewide affiliates.  In 2007, Amie stepped into NPH as an employee and has since overseen all internal functions.  As a mother of two, Amie is active in her community and children’s education.  She sits on the Board of Directors of Pacific Primary School where she is the Treasurer.  Amie holds a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University in San Rafael and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University.

Megan Kirkeby, Policy Associate
Megan is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz where she received a B.A. in Global Economics. She has a strong belief in economic justice for all and is excited to be working at NPH.  Her previous experience with non-profit housing comes from living and working at the Cesar Chavez House cooperative in Santa Cruz while she was a student.  Her time there will always hold a special place in her heart.  She looks forward to applying this experience and her background in Economics to her work at NPH and enjoys learning more about housing issues affecting Northern California and beyond.  Being somewhat new to San Francisco, Megan spends time outside of work exploring the city and the East Bay.  Awed by the beauty of the Bay Area, she enjoys painting pictures of her explorations.

Leah Prassinos, Membership and Resource Development Associate
Leah is a recent graduate of UC San Diego with a B.A. in Creative Writing.  She is currently pursuing her Master's in Public Administration with an emphasis in Non-Profit Administration at San Francisco State University.  Coming from a single parent background, she wholeheartedly supports the mission and work of NPH and the affordable housing movement.  She looks forward to expanding her knowledge of non-profits and their inner workings through her position.  When she can find free time, she likes to spend it with her husband and dog.

Katherine Bayle, Adminstrative Assistant
Katherine is a graduate of Mills College, where she received a B.A. in Sociology. She comes to NPH from Urban Solutions, where she spent a year assisting in a city-wide commercial corridor revitalization program and providing membership services for a neighborhood association. Katherine is excited to use her experience to support affordable housing across Northern California.
